With the widespread use of the web service, many web hosting providers have created an alternative of free blogging which has an open source of blogging software packages. There have been popular blogging tools such as the WordPress, B2evolution and Nucleus.

OIO Publisher and Woopra – Must Have’s!
October 30, 2008 by Melissa · 2 Comments
Posted by Dianne on her WAHM Cafe Blog
I realize that I’m lumping a lot into one post, but as it’s been a while, I figured you deserve a big update
#1 on the list is OIO Publisher – this is by far the best advertising system that I’ve come across and can be used as a stand alone system (on websites) or as a Wordpress plugin. All of the banners and buttons that you see on Wahm Cafe are now powered by OIO Publisher, and can be purchased with either Entrecard Credits, or with cash using PayPal.
The features of OIO Publisher are impressive – add rotating banners, buttons, text links, in-line advertisements, pay-per-post ads (ie: write blog or website reviews), or you can offer custom sales if you have a downloadable product. Providing traffic reports to your advertisers is painless as this plug in does it automatically. It tracks subscriptions and expiration dates and takes care of expiring ads automatically with little effort and no intervention by you. Additionally, your advertisers will have the option of creating an advertising subscription that will automatically be taken care of by OIO Publisher. The ads can be set for geo targeting and it has a built in affiliate program to offer commissions to affiliates promoting ads on your site. Use it on one website and use the code provided to add advertisements to your other we bsites, or upload the plugin to each of your sites. You’ll be hearing more from me about OIO Publisher in the very near future. This post is actually acting as a trial for one of the Social Networking features that OIO Publisher offers – but I don’t want to discuss it until I see how it all works. I will say that it looks very cool though!
#2 on the list is Woopra – If you are looking for stunning statistics and analytics for your website or blog, then you have to jump on board with Woopra Beta. It took 2 to 3 weeks after applying before I was approved into the beta test, but once you get approval, I assure you that you’ll be amazed.
Check out some of these features:
- Live Tracking Visitor tracking updated in real-time, dozens of other analytics updated several times a day. Live tracking is particularly useful for reacting to sudden events such as a Digg traffic surge etc.
- Rich User Interface Great UI combined with easy to use data representation tools and overlays.
- Deep Analytics and Search Capabilities Huge range of data, all indexed for easy searching such as “Specific user names, IP addresses, geographic locations, user browsing data, visitor history, visitor paths, arrival and departure points”
- Instant Chatting This is a little weird, but you can make a chat box pop-up in any site visitors browser. Not sure how many people would accept this and have a conversation. It works kind of like live chat, only backwards – you can see the second someone lands on your website and instantly start a chat with them.
- Visitor Tagging Recognise and monitor types of users and regular visitors.
- Real-time Notifications Define actions then receive notifications.
- Integration Integrate with WordPress (and other blog platforms) to get dashboard access to Woopra statistics. Also a wide range of developer tools enable plugins and applications to take advantage of the Woopra platform.
I can honestly say that I’m seeing detailed analytics and statistics like I’ve never seen before by using both AWStats and Google Analytics. Highly recommended!

Blogging For Your Direct Sales Business
October 22, 2008 by Melissa · 3 Comments
I am seeing more and more direct sales distributors start blogs in the hopes of attracting new customers and new team members.
I can’t stress enough that if your blog is about business only, people will come, scan the contents and leave.
If your blog offers information that is helpful, people will continue to come back and continue to read. Your goal should be to get regular visitors to your blog.
People do business with those they tend to know. If someone is visiting your blog on a regular basis, they begin to feel like they know you.
Once you have a blog, how can you attract others to come to your blog?
1. Write some articles and use the blog URL in your bio. Write the articles on the topic of your blog. For example, one of my blogs is a parenting blog. I write articles about parenting and in the bio, I include the URL of my blog. Submit these articles to a few popular directories.
2. Run a contest on your blog. Give away one of your company’s products. This allows you to introduce your product to readers and to bring in many new potential customers. Submit your contest to any of the contest websites out there. I can get up to 1000 visitors from one contest. I ask them to please look at my site and tell me something, either a favorite product or something they’ve learned.
3. Join a blog carnival that is the topic/theme of your blog. If you do a web search for “blog carnival” you’ll find many. I’ve seen some carnivals attract over 1000 participants. That’s a lot of potential traffic for your blog.
4. Make sure you have links to your direct sales business on your sidebars. I use both text links and a button link on my blogs.
5. Offer link exchanges with other blogs that are the same theme as your blog. Remember you’re not just selling on your blog, you’re offering valuable information. By exchanging links you’ll attract even more visitors to your blog.
6. Make it a point to comment on at least 10 new blogs every day. Very often when you comment on someone’s blog, they’ll comment on yours too.
Blogging is a wonderful way to build your direct sales business if done correctly. Try the above suggestions and see if your team begins to grow.

Content Made Easy With Zemanta by Dianne
October 21, 2008 by Melissa · 2 Comments
Dianne shared this from her blog WAHM Cafe today
I’ve only just heard about Zemanta and what it can do for your blog, so I thought I’d download it and give it a try.
First, you’re probably wondering just what the heck Zemanta is… and that is something that is not as easy to explain as it should be. In short, you can call it a ‘blog tool’, though it’s definitely more than that.
Zemanta provides you with an easy way of finding and adding photo’s to your blog posts, it recommends SEO tags based on the content of your blog posts – and this is a very cool feature as it’s next to impossible to think of all the relevant tags that could be used. Zemanta also provides you one click access to content related to your blog post as in this example below:

- Use Zemanta to Easily Share Blog Content
- How to Get Backlinks with Zemanta
And the cool part? Every time you post new content to your blog, it will become part of the Zemanta blogosphere, allowing other people quick and easy access to your articles, stories, reviews etc. Is there a better way to achieve relevant backlinks to your blog?
Dianne shared this with us today from her blog WAHM Cafe
As you write your blog post, you’ll also notice a list of links that appears (in WordPress, it appears right underneath your Post box). This list of links is based on the content that you’re writing and will allow you to instantly link to more content based on specific words in your post. For example, the word Firefox will ad a link to the Firefox home page. Most of the links currently point to Wikipedia, but as content within Zemanta grows, so will its linking abilities.
Installation of Zemanta is a snap – it works with Firefox, Internet Explorer and right now I’m using it with Flock. Just install the browser plugin, navigate to your blog dashboard and you’ll discover Zemanta in action:
