Make Money Online with Affiliate Programs: Step Three – Content Makes the World Go Round: Reviews, Interviews, Quality Content.

June 3, 2009 by NicoleDean · 2 Comments

Welcome back to Day Three in the “How to Make Money Online with Affiliate Programs”. If you’re just joining us, you can catch up on the first two days at the link above.

On Day One I showed you how to get a blog set up and running for $10 – plus the cost of the domain and only $5/month hosting. So, basically less than ordering pizza for your family, even with good coupons!

On Day Two, I showed you how to figure out which categories to set up and where to look for targeted products with great affiliate programs to promote.

Well, I’m back with Day Three. And, this is the part that people tend to get stuck with.

What Do I do Now? What should I write about?

Well, my friends, let me start by saying this is not nearly as difficult as you’d think.

You can write your blog posts yourself of course. Or you can borrow or even buy blog posts from other places.

Let’s Start with Ways to Borrow or Brainstorm Content

Guest Columnists

Right here, right now. Who’s writing this blog post? Not Melissa, even though she’s a fine writer. It’s me, Nicole Dean. Know what she’s paying me to do this? Nada.

So, why am I doing it?

She’s posting about these blog posts on Twitter, telling her newsletter about it and announcing the Blog Tour on her podcast – all of which is super cool. I’m doing the same.

It’s a win-win situation.

I get to reach an entirely new audience as does she, while she gets the benefit of having a Guest Expert on her blog.

All without any sweat or tears on her part.

Melissa also has other contributors on this site. Look around and you’ll see her panel of experts. And, you want to know what a small world it is? Melissa has been a guest expert on my site www.ShowMOMtheMoney.com for quite some time, too.

See? http://showmomthemoney.com/author/multitasking-mama/  Told you she was a good writer!

So, one way of getting content on your website is to get guest experts. Now, before you start thinking that there’s no way someone would want to contribute to your brand new blog, there are a few ways around that issue. ;) They don’t call me a ‘content expert’ for nothing.

Free Reprint Articles & Audios.

Go to places like LadyPens.com and you’ll find articles written by experts on a variety of topics. The authors are screened prior to being accepted so there is no junk allowed. You may grab any of the articles on the site and post them on your blog, just as long as you include the author bio/resource at the end. It would say something like…

Nicole Dean is the mostly-sane online business coach and mom of two. Are you a Work at Home Mom looking for ways to get more traffic? Take Nicole’s Web Traffic School tutorial – Free! www.webtrafficbasics.com

I always recommend that, when you use articles from places like LadyPens.com or EzineArticles.com that you add an intro to the beginning of the article so that your page is a little different than the one posted at the article directory.

So, basically, if you can copy & paste, you can have guest experts from LadyPens on your blog.

If you notice, at LadyPens, you can also grab free reprint audios that you can post on your blog. ;) Where else do you see that going on?

Free Affiliate Articles

Similar to LadyPens.com, there are experts who will allow you to use their articles on your blog, but there’s a cool twist.

In the author bio, instead of linking to the website like you normally would, you can sometimes link to the author’s website using your affiliate link for their product or service.

Cool, isn’t it? Now, to do that, you can search through article directories and ask the authors if it’s ok for you to use their articles as an affiliate. Some will say “yes” and others will not understand and will say “no”.

Or, you can go to FreeAffiliateArticles.com and find a bunch of authors who have already agreed to allow you to reprint their articles with your affiliate link inside.

Interviews

I do interviews all the time. In fact, I normally do 1-5 per week – a combination of written and audio interviews. Why? Because, again, I get to reach a new crowd of people who may like me and want to learn more from me.

If I do interviews, you know that other people do, too. In fact, just go to www.BlogTalkRadio.com and you’ll find a whole slew of people who are being interviewed day in and day out.

Audio interviews are great, but, text interviews are even easier. Just write up a few questions and email it to someone who your readers would enjoy learning more about. (If that person has a product or service that you can recommend with your affiliate link – even better!)

Authors, experts, speakers – everywhere you look, you’ll find people who want exposure. Since you’re now a blogger, you can help them to get it, while building up your blog as a valuable resource for others.

Excerpts

I’m an Affiliate Manager. What that means is that I Recruit, Train, Motivate and Manage affiliate programs for others. Well, I’m not taking clients anymore, because I’ve found my perfect job. I’ve been the affiliate manager for Jimmy D. Brown who is an amazing mentor and friend for several years.

Well.. where this is going is that we offer excerpts of his most popular courses in our affiliate center at www.InfoProfitShare.com for affiliates to use to promote his programs. So, I’m sure you can find other affiliate sites in your niche that might do the same.

Videos

Oh, how I love YouTube.com. It’s full of fresh content for the taking. You can embed most of the videos on YourTube.com and other video sites into YOUR blog.

See? You can even grab mine here: Nicole Dean Videos! (So sorry about the scarceness of them… I’m working on that.)

Heck, if you want to talk about your favorite products and services and post the video on your blog with a link, you can certainly do well with affiliate marketing.

And, those ideas are just off the top of my head! You think you can work with that for awhile?

Let’s Move On to Ways to Buy Content

Now, I’m kind of flying through this since I don’t want the blog post to be so long that no one reads through it. So, here are two ways to buy blog posts…

Ghostwriters

A ghostwriter is someone who writes for you, as you. They take no credit for the work and you keep it forever.

The benefits of this are obvious. Less work for you!

The drawbacks are – money out of your pocket and finding a great ghostwriter.

Where can you look? Your first stop should be Shelancers.com. Of course you can also ask around and post on eLance.com, too.

PLR Content

This is one of my most favorite inventions. This is similar to hiring a ghostwriter, except that the articles are sold to multiple people.

Here’s what I mean. I could find PLR articles about just about any niche, and buy them affordably. The owner of the PLR site sells the same articles to anywhere from 25-2000 other people, so you can get them pretty affordably. (Less expensive than hiring a ghostwriter to write them for you.)

Once you have the articles, you then use them as drafts for your blog. I always encourage you to edit them to make them your own. Change the title, add your thoughts, add examples that are specific to your niche.

The only real drawback to PLR is finding articles on the correct topic that are quality. Luckily I have a good source for you: www.EasyPLR.com (or learn more at www.EasyPrivateLabelArticles.com )

Well, I’d better run so that you actually have time to choose a few of these ideas and implement them.

I’ll be back tomorrow with the next step.

Warmly,
Nicole Dean on her Rock Star Blog Summer Tour

Blogging Tips for Wahms

February 23, 2009 by Melissa · Leave a Comment

Blogging is one of the best ways to start a Wahm business because it is so easy to get going. However, that does not mean that it is easy to make money from your blog. Don’t start a blog and expect to see money rolling in immediately. Blogging is an activity that will take time to build up to a profit level. It’s a good thing to start while you are working on other Wahm opportunities to let it build to a profitability level. With time and attention, your blog (or blogs) will grow into a business.

When you are blogging for profit, you’ll want to pay close attention to how you present yourself in your blog. There are literally hundreds of thousands of blogs out there, and there may be several hundred blogs that are related to your topic. If your readers can’t understand your blog and have trouble reading it, they’ll just move on to the next one. The following tips can make your blog more user-friendly and help you gain consistent readers.

First, pay close attention to the format of your blog. Readers want to understand how your blog works right from the start. Most blogging platforms have similar formats, with links and tags on the left or right margin, and the most recent post on top. Make sure to use the links wisely. Only put links up for blogs or content that is truly related to your blog’s topic. The point is to give your readers additional information on your topic. Keep the list short and sweet. There is no reason to overwhelm them with links to other sites.

Also, take careful consideration when choosing your blog’s background and font color. Although there are a lot of color choices that blogging programs offer, its best to stick with a light background and dark text. Studies have shown that the human brain can process this type of format better than light text on a dark background. Think about this before you commit to a black background and white text. It might look striking, but readers might not want to stay there for long. Also, use a solid background color instead of trying to use a pattern or design.

Proofread your entries before you post them to your blog. There is nothing that reduces your authority in the eyes of your readers’ more than bad spelling and grammar. The online world is a world of text, so take some time to learn commonly misspelled words and grammatical errors.

Keep your blog fresh and interesting by posting at least once per day. With so much information available on the Internet, your readers may go elsewhere if you aren’t supplying daily content. If you aren’t sure what to write about, try posting a poll, a link to another blog, comment on a news story or post of list of helpful tips. Not every post has to be long and complicated, but you do need to post something everyday.

These tips will help keep your blog readable and interesting to your visitors. The more visitors you get, the more your blog will grow in profitability and importance. Just make sure to present yourself in a professional way and keep your readers coming back for more new content each day. In no time, you’ll have a profitable blog and then you can move on to create two or three.

Cooking with Children

February 22, 2009 by Melissa · Leave a Comment

I am fairly certain that most of us have either seen or at the very least heard of the hit situation comedyMarried with Children” that dominated television for quite a few years and is still shown in syndication in many markets around the world. There are some wonderful insights that are shown by this often dysfunctional family and a few pearls to bring into your every day lives. The same can be said when it comes to cooking with children.

There is little on this earth that can teach you about yourself and the way your children view you as easily as cooking with your children. Of course, this is the perfect opportunity for many of us to let our hair down a little, relax, and have fun in the kitchen. Unfortunately, if you are anything like me, this is a difficult process to say the least. I am a bit of a control freak in my kitchen. It is my domain or sovereign territory so to speak. For this reason it is difficult to give up that little bit of control and hand over the reigns to any one of my children.

On the other hand, I know they are learning important skills that they honestly need to know in life. This knowledge of course doesn’t make it any less difficult when I’m scraping tomato sauce out of places I would never have thought to discover it on my own. If you are considering cooking with children you need to make sure you have the proper ingredients on hand before beginning. You certainly do not want to be caught without that cup full of patience you will be requiring nor do you wish to need to leave in the middle of things for a run to the local grocery store to pick up the missing ingredients.

Another great rule of thumb when it comes to cooking with children is the KISS rule. Keep it simple silly. This rule will help out more than you ever realize. First of all, most children have relatively short attention spans. While they want to learn and help mommy out, they also do not want to have enough time to get bored with the details. Use simple recipes when cooking with children and your chances for success will be much greater than with overly complicated or ingredient intense recipes.

As if this wasn’t enough to absorb another very important rule when it comes to cooking with children is to clean as you go whenever possible. Trust me on this. While there is part of you who will want to put off the task of cleaning the messes that are made until later, or wait till the end and only clean once, this allows the opportunity for messes to layer and compound themselves. Constantly clean throughout the process for the best possible results. You should enlist your children in the cleaning process as well. While it may be easier to do yourself, it is far more important to teach them the basics of cleaning as you go. Remember one day they will more than likely invade your kitchen while you’re not looking.

Cooking with children can be an incredible way to have a fun day if you are able to let go of the control that you too often hold over the kitchen. Give over the keys to your kingdom for a day of fun and frolicking among the flour and sugar and see just how many wonderful memories you can make with your little ones along the way.

Why Should You Blog?

November 29, 2008 by Melissa · Leave a Comment

Blogs are becoming more popular nowadays. You will notice that the numbers of blogging sites are increasing. In addition, there are innovations already making its way into blogging.

For instance, instead of pure text content, there is now photo blogging where you can now share your pictures with other bloggers. Aside from the usual call and text features of cellular phones, now you can use it if you want to post your blog. It just manifests that blogging is really becoming popular to people.

If you are not reached yet by the popularity of blogs, continue reading and see for yourself why blogging is just popular to almost every Internet users.

What is Blog?

Before anything else, what is a blog? Generally, it is a web page that has brief and distinct information also known as posts. These posts are arranged in reverse chronological order (that is, the latest comes first) and each post entry is identified by an anchor tag which is marked by a permanent link that can be referred to by others who wish to link to it.

Blogs are considered to be a means of communication and there are numerous types of messages carried by blogs. Some you will find are just vacuums that points to other websites, others displays their greatest essay, some are personal diaries, and others promote newest technology. In other words, bloggers can write anything they want.

Why Blog?

There are hundreds of thousands of blogs posted on the Internet daily. With these numbers, one question will just pop-up in your mind: Why do people blog?

The reason behind is through blogs, people can express themselves freely. Yes, there are other mediums you can use to show to the world what you have got. You can write articles and columns on a local newspaper. But the question is, are you sure all what you have written can be printed? Writing blogs gives you the power to get what you have written printed immediately. No questions asked, nothing more to be asked.

Another reason why many people are blogging is the freedom of design, layout, and its structure. You do not need to have navigation architecture designs of a website nor a structured menu. You can write anything about what you want regardless of what it looks like. Your point is to attract readers in the way that you think is the best. That is the power of blogging—giving you the freedom of what you want your blog to look like.

Before you start your blogging hobby, you need to know first the blogging tools. These tools enable you to post your blogs either on your own website or to a certain blogging community. One popular blogging tool is Blogger software, a web-based tool that does not require you to install software to your personal computer or on your server in case you have your own website. You can access the tool through the Blogger website and your blog pages can be posted to your own site or to a community blog server.

These are just some of the basic things you need to know about blogging. Remember that blogs give you the power to publish anything you want. However, you need to keep in mind that it can be successful if you will be discussing interesting things on it. And do not forget to place a link directing to your own website. It can help you generate the traffic you needed.

But now, entrepreneurs are just smart enough to use the existing Internet technology to be regularly updated of the latest trends in business and at the same time keeping in touch with their clients. There is now text and voice chat, exchanges of e-mail, website forums, and others.

One of the most online business innovation ever made is the transformation of the regular blog posting into an online business tool. Before, blogging is just used for showing different thoughts and ideas. Some are just for fun, while others are for promotion of something that others think is beneficial to other Internet users. In other words, it is just a bunch of personal diaries and bulletin board for those people who want to share their knowledge and thoughts to others.

But think again, it is not just for diary writing or whatever. It is now a promotion tool you can use to boost your business. You can set up blogs in your website and have it with an associated RSS feed. In other words, you can constantly keep in touch with your clients and potential customers as well. In addition, you do not have to e-mail them—your blogs will be responsible in getting the latest news without actually having to visit your website.

From regular blogs that you post for nothing, now it is called the business blog that can help you save thousands of dollar and providing you great business opportunity with just one click. Not only it is free to use but also it is user-friendly, can be customized, and can be a flexible medium for circulating useful information for effective positioning of your products in the market.

There are some noted advantages of entrepreneurs who engage in business blogging. Here are some of these advantages:

· Through blogs, you allow your clients to post their comments with regards to the product that you are offering. It can be of great help in improving your product through the suggestions that they will be posting. In addition, you can take immediate actions to your client’s concerns.

How to make your business blogs as effective as other means of Internet advertising? You can submit your blogs to any blog search sites and directories. It will be a wise move especially if your site is just newly-constructed.

You can create your own blog by using blog hosting websites or through the use of blogging software. Creating blog pages is also much easier than a conventional website. The title or headline of the post, the body or the main content of the post, a message box for the comments of the readers, a link or URL of the article, and the date of when the post was published in the blog. Your Own Blog

The internet has plenty of blogging sites and resources. There are thousands of blogging sites and almost a hundred contain topics such as yours. To compete with the thousands of blogging sites, you need to create your own style.

It is always easy to have your own blogging site because blogging sites allow users to set up an account for free. You just need to fill out some forms and you’re done and you can start posting anytime you want without the expense. You can also add related links to your own blogging site.

You do not actually have to be a wizard if you want to create your own blogging site. Most of the people who keep up their own blogs are enthusiasts and common people. If you have your own blogging site, you can converse with someone and learn about their comments.

If you have a blogging site, it will be easy for you to market yourself and make benefits from your products provided that it has all the important facts and that can keep your customer interested.

Setting up your own blogging site means that you are creating a little space on the Internet where you can update and make posts on your own with just about anything that interests you.

Of course, your blogging site will have variety of topics within your specialty. If you want to make money with your own blogging site, you need to have multiple blogs with different topics. If not, your blogs will be too messy if all topics were all posted into one blog.

Now to have a good blogging site, you can post anything from your hobbies to your interests. There are lots of people who can get interested in reading your blogs. If your blog is interesting and can give knowledge to the people, they might visit your blogs more often.

In having a good blogging site, you need to come up with interesting topics. It is important that you know your target and you know what they like to read about.

If you personally love dogs or a certain type of pet, you can write about it and post it in your blogging site. You can include useful information that the readers may be interested about. Blogging sites are a good resource for knowledge and information. If not, what will be its use anyway?

If you have your own blogging site, you can start using Adsense to it. Adsense program can give you enough money and increased traffic out of your blogging site.

If you want to upgrade your own blogging site, you need to have at least 10-15 pages which has relevant contents. You also need to have 5 posts on your blog.

To apply Adsense in your blogging site, it should have an interface that is easy to use and it has to be clean. All pages must be working and it should not contain broken links or under construction pages. It should not contain popups and animated gifts.

Your blogging site does not need professional designs. It can stay simple because designs are not the main requirement. If you have simple designs and a simple site overall, it will have more chances to get searched in the search engines. Users will also find your site easy to navigate because it is readable and not confusing.

With the widespread use of the web service, many web hosting providers have created an alternative of free blogging which has an open source of blogging software packages. There have been popular blogging tools such as the WordPress, B2evolution and Nucleus.

These programs offer basic features that are similar and a lot of people are confused as to which program is easiest to use and which is appropriate for the requirements of a particular website.

In getting the free blogging software, you should first know the purpose of your blog website. There are different tools for different goals. Some people use blogs as a way to share opinions and ideas to the public while some use it as a means to advertise and create a commercial sales effort.
