I’ve only just heard about Zemanta and what it can do for your blog, so I thought I’d download it and give it a try.

First, you’re probably wondering just what the heck Zemanta is… and that is something that is not as easy to explain as it should be. In short, you can call it a ‘blog tool’, though it’s definitely more than that.

Zemanta provides you with an easy way of finding and adding photo’s to your blog posts, it recommends SEO tags based on the content of your blog posts – and this is a very cool feature as it’s next to impossible to think of all the relevant tags that could be used. Zemanta also provides you one click access to content related to your blog post as in this example below:

And the cool part? Every time you post new content to your blog, it will become part of the Zemanta blogosphere, allowing other people quick and easy access to your articles, stories, reviews etc. Is there a better way to achieve relevant backlinks to your blog?

As you write your blog post, you’ll also notice a list of links that appears (in WordPress, it appears right underneath your Post box). This list of links is based on the content that you’re writing and will allow you to instantly link to more content based on specific words in your post. For example, the word Firefox will ad a link to the Firefox home page. Most of the links currently point to Wikipedia, but as content within Zemanta grows, so will its linking abilities.

Installation of Zemanta is a snap – it works with Firefox, Internet Explorer and right now I’m using it with Flock. Just install the browser plugin, navigate to your blog dashboard and you’ll discover Zemanta in action:
