My name is Jenn Brockman.

I’ve been an artist my whole life and love the expression of emotion through color, movement and thought. Until a car accident in 2004, I studied and performed American Bellydance and I am a huge fan of burlesque. Art is also a passion and I’ve dabbled in drawing, painting and mixed media over the years, even considering becoming an art teacher.

My two children are still young and take up much of my time and energy. Both have their own emotional and educational needs. One has recently been diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum and the other likely has ADD or some form. The last few years have truly been a journey or epic proportions in regard to these unique souls and learning to deal with them as a single mom.

When I’m not dealing with my kids, I own and run 2 businesses.
Painted Laydies Mineral Makeup has been my baby for the last 4 years and this last summer (07), I started Mama Bags while searching for makeup bags for the first business. I love what good makeup can do for a face. It is why I went to cosmetology school in the first place! But they did not teach us much about it in school so I continued my search for knowledge far after graduation.
Several of my female family members lost battles with cancer in the last 15 years. I have also had cancer and decided that there must be something to do that would help future people avoid getting the deadly disease. This is what prompted my interest in natural cosmetics. So many of the very products that I loved using were laden with chemicals! When I discovered mineral makeup, I couldn’t ignore what I had found and so, did my research. Soon after I began my company and have not quit learning and trying new formulas to this day.

Last summer I decided to add makeup bags to the company product line and discovered that there were so many bags (of all types) that I just loved. Not seeing a huge amount of websites with the product lines that I could carry at the price point I could supply, I began a subsidiary of my main makeup business and it’s done fairly well since its inception.
